In an attempt to clear my head so I would be able to focus on the articles I am supposed to write for the e-mag I work for (Jaye Magazine), I decided I would organize my room (sort of) and clean out all the Seventeen magazines I had been hoarding for the past SIX YEARS! All the issues were in pristine condition and I was sad that I had to throw them all out (recycle, actually). I've been a Seventeen subscriber since I was 11 so, this wasn't the first time I had to throw out a bunch of issues. But this was the first time I decided to take a peek at the earliest issue, and my my has Seventeen change. Nevertheless, it was a sweet surprise to find this vintage 2002 issue.
Another surprise today was the check I received from my school. I was expecting a payroll check, but I was extremely surprised that the amount was $300! I'm confused, but ultimately happy; I needed money and I'm thankful that God heard my prayers :).
I love surprises, eh good surprises at least. But oh man it's really hot in my house, and I really feel like slipping on one of my many Summer dresses and standing in front of the fan--feeling the cool air blow from the bottom of my dress to the rest of my body.
Well anyway, what's your most recent surprise?

ReplyDeleteI totally did the same thing. Magazines are a dangeorus (and costly) habit.
ooh $300 thats a nice surprise!
ReplyDelete$300 bucks and Buffy...a lucky day indeed. I was thinking is there much of a market on e bay for old mag's (true, I could check myself)?
ReplyDeleteI remember throwing all my magazines out like that, at about your age. I felt like I had lost one of my arms or legs. Once they were gone for a while, I actually felt a little cleansed, but it did take a while. I love your blog! KC
ReplyDeletelet me know what you discover...
ReplyDeleteoh i'd love to work and earn money too !!! damn parents !!
ReplyDeleteI was recently surprised at the two eliminated contestants from AusNTM! Lol I'm so lame.
ReplyDeleteBut I was surprised to find an awesome new pop act called Alphabeat - they're like a Danish retro band. They're song Fascination is perfection. :)
And also, I freaking love your song! Chris. Brown. Is. The. Best.

very pleased to hear of your monetary windfall-it's a shame your magazines couldn't be passed on or sold on EBay?
ReplyDeleteMy most recent surprise was learning that 2002 is considered "vintage" ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou should really post those mags on eBay. I sold some old 1960s era Vogue issues for big bucks a while back. Don't know if the demand is the same for Seventeen but it's worth investigating!
Nice blog...take care!
I think my most recent suprise is very obvious! Haha!
ReplyDeleteI've tagged you!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish my most recent surprise was $300. But, it wasn't :)
