My editor returned from her mini-vaca today and she put things in perspective regarding this heatwave we have going on over here in the east coast. Our conversation went something sort of like this:
"So how's everything?""Good, Good. Just trying to finish this update for
you.""That's good, but I mean outside of work.""Well, it's freakin' hot outside!""You guys are funny. You consider this hot, but this is
nothing compared to where I'm from."
And she's right! Although the sudden heatwave is unbearable (sort of), I'm sure it's way above 100ยบ somewhere else. I still think it's disgustingly hot though, haha! I'm not a big fan of hot weather, but I do enjoy wearing cute dresses around this time.
Moving on, today when I was writing an update for my internship, the subject matter justified my love for being a New Jersian! I wrote about paid family leave. In 2009, New Jersey along with Washington will join California in allowing paid family leave for workers who need to take time off to take care of their family. Ahh, not only do we have the lowest gas prices in the country, but our employees will be getting paid leave. We're awesome! Do you have pride for your state, county, ect.?

P.S. My shoes are on their way!

Cute look. I love the white shoes with the outfit.
ReplyDeleteAnd, way to go Jersey! Paid family leave is a crucial social welfare policy.
pride in which state? MI (where I was born), CT (where I live), or NY (where I go to school)...I think I'm just going to start saying I'm from Hawaii or something cool like that...haha!
ReplyDeleteIt was beyond blazing in the city today, I thought I was going to suffocate during my walk from my office to Starbucks 2 blocks down. And since I'm from Mich where it snows 8 months out of the year I can say it was en fuego...
AND...They sent my confirmation the next day, but my shoes came in 4 days— don't worry, yours will come soon enough!
it looks like your're floating!! love it :)
ReplyDeleteAnother cute dress, secretista-I'm pleased you have the weather to show them all off!!
ReplyDeleteLove the scarf, it really rocks. What is more, the detail on the side of your shoes is adorable.

You look great, as usual.
ReplyDeleteRight now, I'm pretty bitter about the gas prices in California. I love it here, but this is getting ugly.

I'm from Jersey too, and I love it. Even with the super high housing costs, and the high "guido" quotient, I pretty much adore living here.
ReplyDeletelove this ensemble!
ReplyDeleteYou go to school in New York, though! That's awesome. :) Believe me, when I start school, I'll be visiting NYC as often as possible.
ReplyDeleteI also can't stand weather it is just so uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteCG,
Hi there, I added you to my blogroll, too. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteDarling, compared to what you said, London is bit... We have the top petrol prices! It is getting ... bit crazy!
ReplyDeleteYou look soooo adorable even under this weather! Superb!
That's awesome you're from, Jersey as well. Good luck on your internship this summer :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I guess you could say I'm pretty damn proud to be African. Yes, I know it's a continent, but seeing as I've grown up all over it, it's hard for me to pinpoint one country.
ReplyDeleteBorn in Nigeria, Senegalese name, Primary school mostly in Kenya but Switzerland and the UK as well, graduated from high school in South Africa and now, I'm in New York.
Heck, I'm just glad to be from planet earth.
Oh, and hate to break your bubble missy but Missouri has the lowest gas prices in the nation.
