Intern and The City: Something Learnt

Photobucket

The lovely Noel @ MissCouturable and I met up for lunch today and shared tidbits about our lovely internships. We hit up this organic? healthy? burger place called Better Burger and then headed to Billy's Bakery! OH MY GAHH--HEAVEN. I love how the cupcakes split easily, so that you can eat the top half and the bottom half separately! However, eating the cupcakes are a little messy (or I just don't know how to eat), but who cares because they taste mighty fine! Hmm. Ya know, it was really nice to finally go out for lunch; sometime I get so caught up in the work I'm doing that I forget to eat. But that's okay because I'm learning so much!

Ultimately, that's what internships are about--learning new things and gaining experience in your field of choice. So far my brain has absorbed knowledge on:

How to write for the web.
How to operate a Mac, better. I'm Pro-computer, but the magazine industry uses Macs, so it's better I learn now than later.
How to edit and research photos.
How to kick a$ in an interview.
OH, and I now know the importance of news.

I wonder what I'll learn next?!
What's something new you've recently learned?

  2. Wow these cupcakes look so divine!! I've learnt to take things easier and relax more-I've felt too burnt out lately, so I will listen to my body more when it wants to rest!!

  3. *sigh* at the beginning of this past school year, my parents and I got into a huge debate over whether to get a MAC or PC. I ended up with a PC, to my dismay, ("We live in a PC-driven world!" my father declared) but desperately want a MAC. My BF is in the web designing business and he swears by his. Maybe if I pout enough before the summer's over, or possible ask Santa at Christmas, I may end up with a glorious MAC...I want one so badly!

    And those cupcakes look yummy.

  11. I think it's amazing that you have the chance to write those mini articles, you'll be able to tell future employers you are a published writer for an important website. Definetly a sweet gig that you have!

  16. I recently learned that it was Kurt Vonnegut who coined the phrase: "Be careful who you pretend to be because you are who you pretend to be." Interesting, and random. Loving a good cupcake photo, btw!!

  17. I've never been on facebook at my internship. I have checked my email, but that's about it.

It's nice to hear about your experiences in NYC. My non-fashion-related internship is in DC, and I wish I had time to go exploring. I love shopping in Georgetown, but I have to leave DC right after I finish my intern hours each day :(

  20. I love cupcakes! & yes, I make a lot of mess when I eat them too! I've recently learnt that finance was so much harder than I thought it'd be & how to clean laptops! When we cleaned it for the first time, my friend actually made a key pop out! Thank goodness we managed to put it back!
