Already Fashion WEAK

Remains from my 5th box of Tissues in 5 days.

New York Fashion Week begins this Thursday (!!) and I'm already exhausted. I'm not only exhausted from thinking about my activities and work (because Fashion Week is actually work for me), but I'm physically exhausted from this cold I am battling!

It began sometime last week as a scratchy throat and sporadic sniffles. I watched it blossom into a full-blown cold, but thought I'd be nipping it in the bud with Mucinex. Wrong. Friday night, I witnessed my voice slowly wither away from my ground-shaking chest cough as I watched Dear John with my college cronies; the constant tears caused by the movie didn't help my stuffy nose either. I have high hopes my voice will at least return by Thursday, but until then, I shall remain silent.

I'm going on a bit of a tangent here, but you know what I hate more than feeling under-the-weather? It's having to take a sick day because you are feeling ill. Ugh! It's such a waste of a day. All I did today was sit in my room and watch Reality TV marathons on Bravo. And because I felt rather lethargic, I didn't do the reading for my classes. Meaning, I must do them now. I feel a pop-quiz coming on. Grr.

In addition, you probably won't see me blogging for another week. You will most likely see my NYFW related posts on TeenVogue.com. Be sure to follow Teen Vogue on Twitter to get the latest scoop from the Runways!

Now, excuse me as I delve back into the fiery pits of Dante's Inferno...

Fashion's Night Out 2009 Tees

In exactly one month, Fashion's Night Out 2009 will commence! For those who aren't in the know, Fashion's Night Out is "a global initiative to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion." Vogue editions around the world will be coordinating events in their respective areas. Woohoo! It'll be one big fashion partay around the globe! I'm super excited about this because I think it's time the world take note of how much fashion contributes to our economic system.

In addition, I can't wait to get my hands on one of the FNO tees. I wasn't going to try and get one because I figured they would sell out fast, but once I read that proceeds from the T-shirts would be donated to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, I knew I HAD to snag one. A full directory of retailers selling the shirts will be available on August 17th, but you can begin checking it out now.

Viva fashion!

P.S. Happy 31st Anniversary Mom & Pop. 31 years married and still head-over-heels for each other. You two make me sick. :]

Secretista & Teen Vogue

So some of you have been wondering where I am interning this summer. I subtly mentioned it in a previous post, but now I'll let the truth be known. I am interning at TeenVogue. That's right, TeenVogue. I am savoring each moment that I am there, and I could not be happier. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. If I could, I'd pitch a tent in the office at night. But unfortunately, I can't. The deets on me being a TV intern is on the fabulous Web site. If you want to know what I'm doing while I'm there, checkout the Intern Blog.

Pierce me, please.

Hey There Trendsetters,

I spent almost the entire day at the salon! My mother and I arrived at 1:30PM and didn't return home until 8PM; the salon was packed! Our hair stylist had other clients before us and it didn't look like he was going to be finished anytime soon. It seemed like everyone was getting their hair done just in time for Christmas. Well, while I was at the salon waiting for 4 hours until it was my turn in his chair, I fed my fashion hunger with all the magazines he had in the salon; Vogue, TeenVogue, Lucky, & etc. They were all there! YUM! However, I couldn't fully enjoy it because my mom was over my shoulder giving her two cents! Love ya mom, but sometimes you need to SHH! Haha. Anyway, it seemed like all the issues were giving advice as for the proper Holiday attire. I think that is great because they really do help in picking the right outfit for the right party, but the reason I mention this is because I am making a disclaimer as to the fact that I will not be talking about any Holiday attire. If you haven't realized what to wear to that holiday party by now or you haven't gotten your fashionable gifts for that special someone by now, well you're shit out of luck! Plain & simple. =)

On another note, I have recently fell in love with the female duo group The Pierces. They are absolutely amazing! Their music is very serene and catchy; to be politically correct their type of genre is Adult Alternative. These two ladies Allison and Catherine Pierce are not only musically talented but fashion forward too! I was reading an article on them in a magazine that I can't remember the name to, but their fashion style is a mix of Bohemian and Modern. I think the fact that their parents were self-proclaimed hippies might have something to do with it, but either way they are fashionably on point! All you Gossip Girl lovers may remember their songs "Secrets" and "Three Wishes" from the December 5, 2007 episode. The Pierces have been around since 2000 and I am wondering why this year is the first time I am hearing of them?! I am currently listening to their recent album which you should all go out and buy because buying CDs is the right thing to do! Well, that is all pour moi.
