Hello Lover! My Sex and The City NYC Tour Experience

Never in my life did I think I would go on an a New York City tour. When I say never, I mean never-in-a-million-years. I don't like being a Tourist nor do I like Tourist, especially New York City Tourists--they're like pack rats who congregate in Times Square. I'm really just not a fan of crowds.

Well anyway, when someone from On Location Tours shot me an email offering me a Sex and The City or Gossip Girl tour for free (that was for you FTC), I jumped on the idea. For those who don't know, I'm a huge SATC fan. I've watched the first movie over 20 times and can recite lines like it's no man's business. So secretly, I've always wanted to go on one of these tours but could not let the inner New Yorker in me allow myself to do so. Needless to say, I'm so glad I went on the tour!!

The mini trip into Carrie Bradshaw's land allowed me to see the real beauty of the concrete jungle I've come to know and love. From Uptown to Downtown, my buddy Noel of Miss Couturable and I visited most of the spots the TV show and movie were shot.

Sex and The City portrays NYC like this fantasy land and well, it sort of is. Our spunky tour guide showed us so many great places to dine, have fun and most importantly, shop! One of the last stops on the tour was to the infamous Magnolia's Bakery on Bleecker Street. The tour guide fed us some cupcakes and then we were able to roam around Bleecker for 20 minutes. During these 20 minutes, Noel and I, stumbled into Cynthia Rowley's store. As we walked in, I instantly saw a familiar face. It was Cynthia Rowley HERSELF! I nudged Noel and whispered as quietly as I could, "THAT'S CYNTHIA ROWLEY!!!" I'm surprised we were the only people in the store that realized it was her. I then snapped this picture of her and Noel and we continued to browse the lovely store.

All in all, I'm surprised at how much fun I had on this tour. I guess being a NYC Tourist isn't that bad...

The Revival of The Scrunchie?

As I type, I'm watching the Sex and The City movie--for the 12th time. That's right, I said the 12th time. My addiction to the SATC movie and TV show is beyond my mind. It might be because of my inner yearning for some precious time with my best girlfriends or my genuine love for SATC.

That aside, I was on the train into New York City the other day when I picked my head up from reading the latest Harper's Bazaar and saw something well, bizarre. There it was; SPOTTED: a velvet brass stud embroidered navy scrunchie. I instantly chuckled. The night before, I watched the episode of SATC where Berger and Carrie have an argument involving a scrunchie. At one point, Carrie tells Berger that real New York women don’t wear scrunchies. So while I sat on the snail-like moving train staring at the scrunchie, I began to think: "Is this scrunchie wearing lady in front of me not from New York City (clearly not because I was taking the train INTO the city)?" And then I glared out the window and thought, "Could this be the revival of the scrunchie?" I hope not, but American Apparel does.

What do you think about the scrunchie?
Should it make a comeback or stay in the 90s where it died?

Sex and The City and Fabulous

Wow! That was a long movie. I just saw Sex and The City and boy was it amazing! It supplied all the sufficient needs that a SATC fan wants. The movie offered closure on all the characters, and if you are not a SATC fan, you might not enjoy the movie. I cried, I laughed (hysterically), and I awed. However, after the movie I felt lonely, but felt the need to have a greater appreciation for my friends. The SATC girls have a bond so strong that I hope I have lovely friends like that well into my golden years.

Before the movie, I went to visit my old job. I get along great with my former boss and I even helped out a little. Oh, I used to work at this awesome ice cream treatery called MaggieMoo's. And you know what, in honor of SATC they came out with a special ice cream mix properly named Cosmopolitan. It's a mixture of chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, and fresh strawberries--can you say yummy in my tummy?

Moving on to my outfit, I decided on a yellow dress. I feel like I'm channeling a little bit of every character in my outfit; I love it and I hope you do too :).

Intern and The City

Photobucket

Yes, that's right my dearies. Yours truly will be interning in the city this Summer. And all I have to say is, it's about time! When my plans to be an Orientation Leader fell through, I had to scramble for last minute Summer internships. Ed2010 became my new hobby; I checked it at least 10 times a day, applying for every internship I thought would offer up a great learning experience. And out of the 60 + resumes/cover letters I sent out, I only received five interviews. Let me say that again, I only received FIVE interviews. Where will I be interning? Well, you can consider this a shameless plug, but there's this great website first30days.com. And being that they will be one of my many employers this Summer (I have a part time job and I work for JayeMag), it'll be worth your while if you go visit it :)!

I'm not afraid to admit that I do want a lifestyle (minus the sex) similar to Carrie Bradshaw from SATC, and I think that this internship will give me a taste for what it's like having to travel in the city daily. Well in my case, 3 days out of the week. I love the city and I can't wait to start work this Monday.

Now, what's really important is, what do I wear on my first day?!

Sex and The City Movie: WHAT TO WEAR?!

With the Sex and The City movie only about a week away, I can't help but run outfit ideas through my mind. I'm not sure which Sex and The City character I want to look more like, but I will say I always identified my style with Carrie Bradshaw. Carrie is effortlessly edgy and chic--I hope that's how my style is perceived.

Nevertheless, I can't seem to put an outfit together. Except, I am sure that I will be wearing black rose embellished headband, but with what dress and what heels?! So many looks to emulate. I could go effortlessly chic like Carrie, classically wholesome like Charlotte, strictly business like Miranda, or sexually professional like Samantha. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see what I come up with next week.

Oh, and sorry for the lack of outfit pictures. I've been enjoying my bed since I've been home (so, I haven't truly unpacked), but that will all change tomorrow being that I have to drive back to school for work, so prepare yourselves for a lovely outfit picture/photo shoot, eh whatever you wanna call it. :)
