Got Time? Use it.

I love four-day weekends. Why? Well, instead of only having three days to do nothing and procrastinate my school work, I have four!! Truthfully, I'm actually in the middle of catching up on my reading for all of my classes. I really do not feel like staying up late tonight just to read. I'm starting off on a different foot this week--a progressive foot. I have plenty of time, so I am using it wisely.

Parents Do Understand

Yesterday while doing my homework, or eh, trying to do my homework, my cell phone rang. It was my dad! And through our conversation, a portion of my worst nightmares came into place. This may sound strange, but the Internet is my safe haven away from my family, so when I found out my dad decided to Google my name, I was scared my blog would come up **Gulp**. Well, here's how the conversation went down.

Dad: Hiiiiii honey!!
Secretista: Hi dad!
Dad: What are you doing? Homework?
Secretista: Yeah...
Dad: So listen, your uncle called and said he saw you on the Internet... YouTube?
Secretista: ?!?! Oh yeah, my resident had to interview me for a journalism project of hers.
Dad: Oh yeah, yeah. So I decided to go on Google and type in your name...
Secretista: **Widens eyes**
Dad:
...and see what else came up. I see your school articles come up.
Secretista: Yeah, we put our school paper on the Internet.
Dad: And what is this JAYE?
Secretista: Just this online magazine I sort of work for. I'm getting clips through it!
Dad: Yeahhh I seee. That's good, getting yourself out there. That's ma girl! I'm going to print your articles, okay?

And then our conversation some how changed to pancakes? But ultimately, I could tell he was proud of me and behind my decision to enter the world of journalism. Sure my dad would rather have me become a doctor and have a "secure" career, but he just wants me to be happy. I guess parents do understand.

BE IN A MAGAZINE

I was just about to apologize for being somewhat M.I.A, but I don't see why bloggers have to apologize for having... oh I don't know... real lives? Nevertheless, I guess I will explain my small absence. This week for me was extra, extra busy. I'm almost at the end of my internship, so I've been trying to do everything possible that I can that will minimize the work load for my editors in the upcoming in between period of not having an intern. However, one can never do enough work because well, there will always be tons of work that needs to be finished, but that doesn't stop me from trying to accomplish everything on my to-do list. Also, the Ed2010 Class took up some time and I do have a 9-5 job the two days out of the week that I'm not working at my internship, so as you can see, my summer has been nothing, but work, work, work. Oh, and yesterday I spent some somewhat quality time with my best girlfriends (a trip to the city that was not so successful).

Now to the part you all care about:

Be in JAYE Magazine! We want to hear about your life, your story, you. In every issue there's a feature article written about a college female. We focus on a struggle she may have been through in her life, but she has managed to pull through and come out on top. In addition, the article is written by me, yours truly!

Weekend Delights: What A Bust!

What a bust. My weekend is boring. So far I've done nothing but shower, eat, sleep, watch episodes of SATC for the billionth time, and eat some more. I love my gal pals, but if I knew that our plans to dine and shmooze today would be canceled on account they all had work, I would have made a trip into the city like I've been planning to. Oh well, I guess relaxing at home isn't so bad.

Since I've been so uhm... not busy, I've actually had time to read all of my favorite fashion resources! I just came across an interesting post on New York Magazine's Fashion Blog: The Cut, and apparently necklines for men are plunging while necklines for women are rising. WHAT?! I don't know how I feel about exposed chest hair, but I do know I'm glad necklines for women are rising; I was never a fan of cleavage.

Well if you find yourself bored like me, read JAYE Mag's August 2008 issue!

Have a great weekend lovelies!

Intern and The City: Inspire Me!

Today, I got to sit-in on a staff meeting. This is my second one, but this time it was with the CEO and all hands were on deck! I wasn't sure if I was allowed to have my in-put (I didn't want to anyway), so I just sat there taking notes like a mad woman. I swear, these ladies are so inspiring and creative it makes me want to work harder during my 6 hour shift.

Speaking of inspiring people. My Editor-in-chief at JAYE Magazine is truly darling. He gives advice like no other, and I'm so thankful he's in my life. He's like a personal mentor and I'm so glad that I'm on his staff where I'm writing and learning (a lot). That being said, the July issue of JAYE Magazine is on the web!

I have a question for you all. Why do I always get hit-on by sleazy men? Seriously. It's kind of annoying. I'm not trying to secretly praise myself, but truly vent. Whenever I walk in the city to and from my internship, I always get sleazy comments like:

"Hey chocolate!"
"How you doin' dimples?"
"What's poppin' sunshine?"
Or today's last one was actually kinda nice:
"Hey beautiful, what's your name?"

Photobucket

Sigh, where would the world be without sleazy men? Hmm, I guess the fact that I wore killer pumps today didn't help either. The pumps do ooze sexiness, but I tried to downplay them with my outfit. However, today's outfit was all about the shoes. Imelda you shoe feen--you like? The shoes inspire my inner Diva.

Who or what inspires you?
