Giambattista Valli is Red Hot!

Earlier this week, Giambattista Valli showcased his Fall 2010 collection. I'm in love. From the camel coat to the sheer red dress, I loved every single piece. I will say that this one was slightly different than his previous winter collections. There was something airy about it; the others were heavy on material. Needless to say, the one thing I have noticed is that Valli has a love for red. It's like he knew that I, who is arguably his number one fan, loves the color red. Red must be the staple color for a Valli girl! Oui ou non?

The proof is in the pictures:

Go Hard in 2010!

Long gone are the days when my elementary school teachers would force me and my lunch trading classmates to write our "New Year Resolutions" down on bell shaped cutouts. I can wholeheartedly remember that I would always write, "Get better grades and be nicer to my brother (HAHA)." I really can't believe it's been a full decade in the new millennium. 10 years ago I was graduating from 5th grade and jammin' out to Vitamin C's "Graduation Friends Forever" song. Ah, good times.

A new year to me means a fresh start. 2009 brought me amazing opportunities and occasions, but I expect 2010 to be an even bigger year for me (and hopefully for you too)! Resolutions have never been my thing, but this year I decided to make one resolution. And that is, to go hard or go home (like Rihanna). I really just want to get the most out of this year, so expect more out of me blog-wise readers. I just might go back to doing outfit posts. Speaking of outfit posts, I forgot to document my no-more-jeans adventure. Pictures will be coming soon! Did you make any resolutions?

I turn 21 in 19 days!

Here's a picture of me approximately 20 years ago. Looks like red has always been my favorite color:

So Long Sophomore Year!

Two years completed; two years still ahead. As I sit in my room staring at the walls that were once covered in posters, paintings and inspirational words, I can't help but release a bittersweet sigh and reflect on this past school year.

So long sophomore year!
A messy collage of my sophomore year.

This school year--although the Sophomore slump it was--has taught me a lot about myself and others. It caused me to realize that I am attending the right school and that I am picking the right career path. I've met so many amazingly new people and done so many amazingly new things that it boggles my mind. So join me as I reminisce and say so long to my sophomore year.

*I kick started sophomore year with Resident Assistant staff training. Here, I fell in love with the job position and my staff. Becoming a Resident Assistant has so far been one of the highlights of my college career. This job has allowed me to grow as a person in so many ways, and I don't know if I could ever let it go.

*Next, I had two amazing internships:

My internship at Seventeen magazine couldn't have been better. It solidified my dream for working in the fashion and magazine industry. I screeched with joy every time I saw my name in the magazine under interns, attended a couple of fashion week shows and shamelessly showed off the photo shoot I helped style. But most importantly, I met the most amazing people ever: my fellow interns and the editors.

My internship at House Beautiful magazine convinced me that I was made for the web (duh!). Sure I didn't know much about home décor going in, but now I can say I know a little somethin' somethin' about upholstery and reclaimed furniture; only a little. I also learned vital information about managing a magazine's Web site and wrote a couple of things for the site. Not to mention, my editor was the bombdigity. Yes. I said bombdigity.

*After attending Teen Vogue Fashion U with the cute La Petite Fashionista, I knew I had to chase after my dreams of working in the fashion industry with a little more oomph!

*My unhealthy obsession with cupcakes bloomed into something unexplainable.

*I turned 20 and had a mini-breakdown. What do you mean I'm not a teen anymore?

*I came to terms with my personal style: modernly conservative with an edge.

*I decided to try and devote most of my wardrobe to one color: red.

*Pinkrockcandy and I started a fashion club at our school (finally!).

*Last and most importantly, I realized the importance of making time for friends.

Oh sophomore year, where have you gone? Soon I'll be a senior looking for a "real world" job. YIKES!

The Red Diaries: Trench Coat

And the journey continues!

In November I began my journey as a devoted red-wearer and you know what, I plan on continuing this journey for the rest of the year. I recently bought a red trench coat at H&M; however, buying this coat included a certain thought process. I went home for the weekend a couple weeks ago to do some shopping (everything is cheaper in the great state of New Jersey) and I wandered into H&M and saw that the Spring stuff was out. There it was: hanging on a rack next to beige and black trench coats. I instantly went for the black trench coat but then I thought, "Well, I'm trying to stay devoted to red and I could buy a black one anytime."

The Red Diaries: Thigh-High Socks

As you can see from my previous post, I am on a journey to becoming a devoted red wearer. Last night I added a new addition to my collection; red thigh-high socks. When I saw SJP's character from SATC, Carrie Bradshaw, wear them in a scene from the movie, I knew I had to get my own pair. So as I spent my Friday night gallivanting Target with some friends, there they were; spotted: RED THIGH-HIGH SOCKS! No ifs and or buts, I took them off the shelf and threw them in my shopping basket.

Pick A Color

Ever since this article came out in New York magazine about people only wearing one color, I have been pondering as to if I too could ever only wear one color. You see, I have this friend who always wears magenta in her daily outfit. Whether it be her bag, gloves, shirt, or whatever, she is always wearing magenta. In a way, I think this is a very admirable characteristic in a person. Wouldn't it just be cool to be known as the person who always wears some form of magenta? Nevertheless, I have decide to become devoted to a specific color, red. I don't know if it's my favorite color, but I've always been drawn to it ... I guess that would make it my favorite color, ha.

Could you ever devote your whole wardrobe to one color?
