Cupcakes and The City

Mmm. Nothing is better than cupcakes and the city. MC and I hit up sugar Sweet sunshine for some cupcakes (Crumbs takes the cake, sorry SSS). I'm afraid to admit that I ate uh, 4 cupcakes *throws hands over face*. Ya know I was uhm, "taste testing". Heh.

The cupcakes were good, but there's just something about Crumbs that makes me salivate for them more. I do love that the store has a blast from the past feeling; everything is very vintage looking. Also, the cupcakes have THE cutest names. I felt kind of cool ordering a "Sexy Red Velvet!" But may be I couldn't totally fall in love with sugar Sweet sunshine because although their cupcakes are priced cheaply, they charge... for water! HELLO, water is free! And the cup of [tap] water is so tiny it's ridiculous (I know it looks much bigger in the picture, but trust me, we were cracking up at how tiny it was/is)!

Weekend Delights: What A Bust!

What a bust. My weekend is boring. So far I've done nothing but shower, eat, sleep, watch episodes of SATC for the billionth time, and eat some more. I love my gal pals, but if I knew that our plans to dine and shmooze today would be canceled on account they all had work, I would have made a trip into the city like I've been planning to. Oh well, I guess relaxing at home isn't so bad.

Since I've been so uhm... not busy, I've actually had time to read all of my favorite fashion resources! I just came across an interesting post on New York Magazine's Fashion Blog: The Cut, and apparently necklines for men are plunging while necklines for women are rising. WHAT?! I don't know how I feel about exposed chest hair, but I do know I'm glad necklines for women are rising; I was never a fan of cleavage.

Well if you find yourself bored like me, read JAYE Mag's August 2008 issue!

Have a great weekend lovelies!

Weekend Delights: Slow Down

Photobucket

This weekend my friends reminded me that ONE, I do have friends and TWO, I need to slow down and appreciate life. Some of us live in a fast-paced world and I unfortunately contribute to it. I am guilty of getting so caught up in my family and work duties that I don't even stop to contact my friends and find out what's going on in their lives. I mean, every now and then I'll send them an "I love you!" or a "What's up?" but nothing beats quality time. Nevertheless, the four of us girlies jumped into one car and headed down to the beach while blasting music, having catch-up conversations, and flirting with cute boys in the next car.

While at the beach, I didn't swim. I'm not much of a swimmer due to a horrific accident as a child where my face was smashed on the ocean's floor--leaving me with open cuts in my mouth from my braces. Oh, and I don't like getting my hair wet (if you're a 'sistah', you'll understand), haha. Well anyway, I decided to wear an orange sundress. The sundress was a big hit on the beach; I caught some cuties looking at me :]. Eh, and a creepy old man making gestures our way. My dress oozed of fun and effervescence that it reminded me of the Resort 2009 Christian Dior collection. I felt like standing by the shore line and letting the ocean wind blow through my dress! Oh wait, I did do that.

Although this weekend was fun, and sent me into a world of giddy girlishness on the verge of adulthood, it's time for me to return back to the fast-paced world of mine. Man, why can't life always be this easy?

Saturday Delight

Yesterday I went to visit my best friend of 9 years in her new apartment. I met her two new doggies and then we drove down to visit her family and have dinner with them to commemorate her birthday that was 3 days ago. Her two puppies are no more than a year old and are also hypo-allergenic! This was great because I wasn't sneazing or rubbing my eyes the entire time. After we spent time with her family, we went back to her pad and watched the tele while her boyfriend told us funny stories about his job. I love my best friend :). Don't you love yours?

There's No Place Like Home

I wanted to post this picture last night, but I went to bed at 9:30 PM. The earliest I've gone to bed in months (besides Thursday). Yesterday was absolutely perfect; the wind was blowing and it wasn't too hot or too cold. Nevertheless, I resorted to this outfit:

Photobucket

What I love about this dress is that it's flowy and if it was blue, I could be a modern version of Dorothy. The past two days I was back at school working in the Admissions office. Ya know, doing the normal Student Ambassador duties--giving tours and answering questions. And once that clock turned 4, I was home in one clap of my black embellished flats as my ruby slippers. Or, in one hour on the Belt Parkway, ha.

Moving on, Saturdays are days of leisure, and I recently just watched Georgia Rule with PRC. Well, we watched it on the same channel and chatted about it on the internet. And it was no surprise that we both noticed the ladies were wearing LouBous! I hear they're really comfortable, and I'm dying to tryon or buy one. But I would never spend $200 + on a pair of shoes, so trying one on will just have to do for now.

Ahh, what does everyone do on the weekends?

Saturday Night Delight

I'm sorry. I'm sorry I haven't been visiting sites, reading and commenting like I usually do. I'm sorry that I haven't been updating regularly. Finals week is approaching and I've got so much going on that blogging has and hasn't been the last thing on my mind. I keep meaning to update everyday and visit sites, but as many of you know, blogging takes up a lot of time. Thus, I'll be taking a one week hiatus.

Friday I saw Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay
, and it was awesome! Critics are giving it bad ratings, but my roommate, my friend, and I thought it was hilarious. If you're expecting a movie exactly like Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, then you might be disappointed. It's not exactly like the first one; there's more in-depth situations that take place and personally I think it's a sweet way to end the Harold and Kumar saga. I really hope they don't make a third one because well, that would be dumb and lame. Thus, I recommend you all go see it, but brace yourself because the racial/social stereotypes are there and they will hit you in the face like a ton of bricks. However, just remember that it's a COMEDY, so don't take everything in the movie to heart.

Last night, a friend of mine had a Birthday party. Remember 'The Weekender'? Yea, it was the same place and slightly the same people. The food was amazing (as always) and quite frankly I think I ate too much. My stomach hurts and I think I need a good day of detoxing/fasting! I wore this black tutuesque skirt from Forever 21, a plain white tee, black stockings and my flats; I didn't take any pictures (except the 1st 2 below) because, well, I'm not sure--haha. But, Thiat and Heather did! I had a cake specially made and was kind of disappointed; the ratio of thickness in buttercream layers to chocolate cake layers could be stated as something like 4:1. This my dearies caused an instant sugar high in my body and then a sugar low. We played cranium; I got a little competitive, but my team lost both times :(. All in all, it was a fun night.

I decided to jump in at the last second.

We were, um, campaigning his cologne?

It's nights like these that make me happy that I'm an 'adult'. I remember being little and while everyone else was really excited about growing up, I wasn't--I didn't want to face a new life. But, I think I really enjoy having my own life and being out on my own. There's just something self-assuring about making decisions on your own. But don't get me wrong, my parents do know best. Whether we all want to believe it or not, the 'rents do know a little somethin' somethin'. What are your opinions on 'adulthood'?

Saturday Night Delight

Saturday night I went to a birthday dinner/celebration/party/w.e you want to call it; but, a bunch of girls got together ate dinner and went back to the birthday girls' house to eat cake, talk, and belly dance! We don't need alcohol to partayyy! WOO! So before the party, I had trouble finding the right birthday card. Are there special birthday cards for twins?!

My outfit was inspired by one of the Asian Cajun girls. I don't remember who, but one of them wore purple tights and all black to work, and one of the co-workers criticized the look, but HA!--I think it's rather chic. It was a new look for me, and the whole night when I looked at my legs I smiled; I wanted to eat them! They looked so beautifully scrumptious! My friend DB cut her hair, put on some new glasses, and strutted her new look in red-patent loafers from Target. It was something new and fresh and I loved it!

Well, I'm doing laundry, and I have a paper to begin and an article to write. Entertain yourself with my photos below:

The Weekender

Went to a dinner party/shin-dig Friday night. Which lead to me spending the night in Queens; however, getting there is another story. After some tears and confusion, I made it to Queens--haha! I just hate getting lost, and I didn't see the sign for my stop, and it was getting pretty late, and I never took the subway by myself, so when I arrived at the final stop and wasn't at my destination, I crept back into my childhood state when I thought I lost my mom at the supermarket and started crying for her. And, well, that is what I did; I cried, but then I asked some nice man in a booth (that's his job anyway, to assist). Point being, I am going to look at my subway map, and study that son-of-a-gun.

It was nice to see some familiar faces from back home. Especially this little lady:

Her name is Anna Pamela C. I was always marveled by this girl's style; she was always so stylish with the right touch of vintage--her name even fits her style! Even when we were in high school, she didn't know it, but I thought her style was pretty cool. And what was so cool about her style was that she dressed the way she wanted and didn't give a damn. But in a strange way, her clothing was always Fashion forward. This chick was rockin' those big old 80's glasses before they made a splash on the scene. Speaking of those, where'd they go?! Well, here's to you Anna!

Got a friend you wished you could dress like?
Tell me about it.

Sunday-noon Delight

The action shot is kinda funny looking; it looks like I'm on the toilet, hahaaa!

Jacket: Forever 21
Shirt: Made it last year for my High Schools Battle of the Classes
Shorts: Soffees
Slippers: Target

I'm curious as to what you guys think of the leather jacket. I'm not sure if I should get a different one because this jacket is only good for styling; it's not going to keep me warm in the cold winter.

Ah, well it's Sunday, I try not to blog on the weekend, because it's the weekend and I need to not spend so much time on the computer, but I'm bored, and avoiding doing my laundry because I am lazy at the moment.

Today I woke up at 1PM-ish (which is the reason I am wearing what I am). This sucks because I have work tomorrow at 9AM and I don't think I'll be going to bed til sometime in the AMs, sigh. Oh well, haha.

I went to the city yesterday with my dear friend Deborah (she was wearing this belted black trench coat, dark denim jeans, white silk shirt, and black pointed ankle-boots--she was very casual sophisticated chic), it was just a girls day in the city; it was nice ;]. We went to Chinatown, East village, and Soho. I wanted to take pictures of those street-fashionistas, but I guess I didn't really see anyone who caught my eye. There was this one girl at Penn Station who was Geek-chic, but I was too shy to ask her if I could take her picture, lol (silly right?). Next time I go to the city, I'll be much braver.
